Kindnesses

I never saw a wild thing
Sorry for itself
A small bird will drop
Frozen from a bough
Without having felt sorry
For itself” ~D H Lawrence

A smile
That you can see
Only in the
Crows feet crinkling
Around my eyes.

The emojis
I send, to your
Earnest texts
Especially the hugs
And the kisses.

Sending you a
You okay?”
Or a voice note
Just to say
Hi, I miss you.”

Is my way
Of being kind.

To me.

And therefore, you.

😍

The quote at the beginning of the post is an oft visited one about compassion to self, of self pity (it’s titled so)- I first came across the verse in a memorable movie called GI Jane starring Demi Moore ❤️. But I wonder, sometimes, at it. I do admire that ability, but if it works against you, what do you do?

  1. How did D. H. Lawrence know
That the little bird did not feel so
    Brene Brown is true blue
And the smile that you drew
Attracts hugs and kisses that we can only blow!
