… is easier said than done!
When you know you
No matter that others don’t
Or perhaps can’t
And sometimes won’t!
But
Do you know you?
Do I know me?
Existential questions aside
I find I always surprise-
Sometimes the daylights 😛 –
Right out of me 😀
And then I find
I need to mould again
Moult too, at times
As monstrous as it seems
Exfoliate, perhaps, not just my skin
But my soul, and seek afresh
A cleaner, leaner self.
The quest, for me, I know
Shall go on…
The Holy Grail shall I find,
That too, is known 🙂
So, what of it?
That’s quite the least of it.
What matters, is just this.
To know, and love,
Each new me.

Well that is a good sign if you can surprise the daylights out of you because you are doing something NEW , something you never done before ..
and i think we all need to exfoliate our souls rather than the skin for sure …

“To know, and love each new me.” Doing this is so important. It matters especially when one is going through a rough patch, or, even more so, when one is the only person taking a stand that the rest of the world terms ‘unreasonable’.
“Do you know you?” That’s a tough question to answer!

Thank you PI! There are ever so many who tend to undermine and diminish themselves, even when, while interacting with them, I know they can do way better at whatever they do attempt. That’s what got me thinking, basically 🙂

Is this tendency to undermine and diminish themselves caused by ‘middle class upbringing’? From a young age, children hear elders saying things like, “We cannot afford that. Only the rich can,” and “A poor person can take that risk because (s)he has nothing to lose. It is foolish for us to risk losing whatever we have.” As the child grows up, (s)he ends up believing that (s)he is a mediocre person destined to live a mediocre life, and then aspires for nothing more than sticking to the middle path, hence does not try to “do way better at whatever they do attempt”. This kind of ‘middle class attitude’ is less common these days, but it’s still around.

Absolutely on the dot there, PI! It is the upbringing and the preconceived notions at work!
On Tuesday when I went into class 9, for the first time this year, I simply asked them to share what they thought would be be different this year… esp. w r t English. I had a young girl say that all subjects were expected to be ‘tough’ . There. Out in the open was their hesitant approach to anything tough, in that one line reply. I’ve been trying, ever since, to use that word in class, in the negative 🙂 🙂
Tough? Ha ha! Nothing’s tough, unless YOU think it is!
Getting them to reconsider set patterns of thinking has to be the toughest thing.
Learning is easy peasy.
Unlearning? Sigh.

Piercing questions posed! Do I know me – not always. Some ‘moulding’ and then some ‘moulting’ or some ‘exfoliating’ may help. But the ultimate solution is “To know, and love, Each new me.” How simple! Great message.
