Came across this rather interesting post, via a link on a comment on Aareet’s site 🙂

He writes of the evolution of his present website 🙂

This link, as Aareet has said has some hilarious comments, and it made me wonder, Why Blog at all?

An interesting excerpt from there:

““Douglas Quenqua reports in the NY Times that according to a 2008 survey only 7.4 million out of the 133 million blogs the company tracks had been updated in the past 120 days meaning that “95 percent of blogs being essentially abandoned, left to lie fallow on the Web, where they become public remnants of a dream — or at least an ambition — unfulfilled.” Richard Jalichandra, chief executive of Technorati, said that at any given time there are 7 million to 10 million active blogs on the Internet, but it’s probably between 50,000 and 100,000 blogs that are generating most of the page views. “There’s a joke within the blogging community that most blogs have an audience of one.””

So, why blog? *ducks head immediately, and guiltily, espcially from all the regular bloggers, readers and comment-ers*

Way back, about four years ago, I was introduced to Orkut :D, by my sons, and then that was IN, and rather exciting 🙂 ! Especially the communities where wannabe writers could write, post and revel in acquired dreams of grandiose proportions when one received rich applause for stuff written. A year into posting in the Ah Poetry community there, I was ready for the first blog, A Quest…, and another few months later, the second one on blogspot, which has moved here, subsequently, this year, “Overdrive..”. A blog for me, was a sort of haven and heaven, where I could hide, and at the same time preen… :P! Contrary as that sounds, it works that way for me, and still does 🙂 🙂 Hiding what and preening what? Lol. That is for the other “me s” to decide… 🙂 One me preens, and another hides! Right, I have been, for the past few years, since I have published on the net, an MPD nut :P! So, there…. the truth is out in the open!

Now you might perhaps forgive me, for the now-you-see-me, now-you-don’t persona, that presumably writes on this blog! Just caught her today, and thought of sharing this tidbit before it got hoarded by the “other” me 😆 !!!

But more than that, I blog

– to have the satisfaction of seeing those words that came through the keyboard I tapped find resonance in another’s eyes 🙂

– to read more, to appreciate that joy of the written word

-because I have found some gems of persons here in blogdom, that charm, tickle and make me feel life is worth it, virtually

-to celebrate the human spirit, that I find, so alive, here, among all of you, in the words, notions and kindnesses you share

-to find inspiration, to make a difference in some small way I can, through my passage here, this lifetime

– because, *sigh*, I am, all said and done, a blogaddict :P!

-because…. well, just because 🙂 have run out of more things to say, as usual, since I am rambling! 🙂

So, why do you blog? Think about it, and be pleasantly surprised by the answers 🙂

The cottony softness
Of my marshmallow heart-
Meltingly greets yours

Where had you been?
All these aeons?

The brittle crust of
Hopelessness took a while
To soften, to crumble

When love oozed and soaked

Lashes, your fingertips

Just a mushy gooey start to the new year 🙂 In hope of more love to fill our lives, and keep us going through life, keeping an eye out for each other, and helping each other on our way through life 🙂

Also for two special girls, my daughters, Sash, and Abhi, as they celebrate their lives, with love 🙂
