Misunderstood.
Mistaken most often.
Used, abused.
Worked to death
Most especially in narrative
Incoherent, incomprehensible.
Neither a pause. Nor a period
Not that space between, either.
In limbo, never quite knowing what
Bothers me so.
And never knowing where I could go.
I’m sure there is a mould for me
A niche I might, someday, inhabit.
But, till I do, I remain insensate
As that semi colon.

“A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.”

A little tittle on top of a tailed tittle
Is, by itself, so very little
But thereby hangs a tale
Of overcoming travail
A proud badge to show off — not to belittle!

I really, really loved this one. 🙂
I’ve always been intrigued by the semicolon— I’ve always seen it as this pause in time wherein lies an entire infinity, an entire world of unexplored possibilities that extends far beyond what we can fathom.
And yes, the link you shared offered a whole new meaning to the semicolon— the promise of life to continue, and I do think that’s the most important thing of all. 🙂
