A Quest on Overdrive … :)

An eccentric rambler on life's lessons and mercies, found and lost… :)

Two steps forward
Splayed hearts;
Head right back-
Turn around to where
We made that start.

All the time, keeping count,
Hunting deadweight words

Carefully skipping
Dangerous squares;
Lest they mire, suck
The little warmth
The game lent us.

Play it enough,
So that we tell ourselves
It’s a perfect match.

  1. Little flat stones tossed into squares
    Sometimes Hopscotch played in pairs
    Touching a line
    Entailed a fine
    In those long-gone days of a world without cares!

  4. It is such a real shame
    that we haven’t learnt from this game
    that everyone has to play within the frame
    and that there is so much joy even if one were lame.
